Good to know
The best way to get to and from the airport depends on where you are staying, for example if you are staying in Kalamaki it is only around13 Euros for a taxi from the airport. However if you are to stay in Vasilikos you are better off booking a transfer.
The currency in Zakynthos, Greece is Euros.
The best time to visit, in my opinion is the summer through til the beginning of October for the best weather.
Make sure you bring your driving license with you to hire the quad bikes.
Inflatable lilos and snorkels are cheaper on eBay and Amazon than they are buying on the island
All of the dishes in Michaelos are the owners Mother's home recipes and it really shows, it is the most authentic greek restaurant you will find in Zakynthos
If you can avoid it, try not to stay in an all-inclusive resort if you want an authentic, local experience - I would recommend the Daniel Hotel (bed and breakfast with a pool) so that you are able to explore all day without the constant pull back to the resort for meals
Quad bikes are on average 30-40 euros a day and fuel is very cheap compared to the UK, this is definitely the best way to get around as it is so fun and cheap
Pre-booking a to the shipwreck is essential as they sell out fast in the island shops and you do not want to have to take the last remaining boat trips which are often terribly long and boring
Michaelos Taverna in Kalamaki is my favourite restaurant in the world - the staff are amazing, they recognise us every year we come back and are incredibly friendly
Find Paco the Parrot on Facebook and pay him a visit, feeding him nuts and hearing him sing - it is definitely worth it
