Top Tips

If the queues for London Dungeons is very long and you have not pre-booked, don't waste a day - try the London Tombs

Definitely pre-book the London Eye and the Houses of Parliament fast pass as the queues can be very long

Book the River Thames Cruise in as late in the evening as you can, to ensure you witness the city lights

If you are visiting London on yours or a loved-ones birthday make sure you visit Planet Hollywood and tell the staff for a suprise!

To witness the changing of the guards at Buckingham Palace, get there at 10am to gain a good spot as it occurs at 11am

The guard changing ceremony does not take place everyday, the British Army confirm the dates around the middle of the preceding month - check here

If you are visiting in late-November to the beginning of January make sure you visit Hyde Park Winter Wonderland, it is free to get in but ensure you prebook attractions (especially at the weekend) as it tends to get booked up

Good to know

The easiest way to get to and from Gatwick Airport is the Gatwick Express trains.

The currency in London, England is the Pound.

The London Underground is the easiest way to get around London, tap your contactless credit/debit card and you're away.

Food, drink and attractions are very expensive in London, bring more spending money than you think.

There are 27 free museums which make a great day out, I would recommend the Science Museum, History Museum, Imperial War Museum, Tate Modern, British Library and the Bank of England Museum.

Covent Garden, Camden and Oxford Street are the best places for a day of shopping.

The best time to visit London, in my opinion, is Autumn-Spring as when it is hot it can become unbearable and a perfect trip to the city involves a lot of walking.
